The Birmingham Urban League is an affiliate of the National Urban League, the nation’s oldest and largest community-based movement devoted to empowering African Americans and other underserved individuals to enter the social and economic mainstream. The heart of the Urban League movement is the professionally staffed Urban League affiliates in over 100 cities in 35 states and the District of Columbia.
The Urban League employs a five-point strategy, tailored to local needs, in order to implement the mission of our movement.

ECONOMIC STIMULUS PAYMENT - IT'S NOT TOO LATE TO FILE
Many individuals with income from Social Security, Veteran's Benefits, and Railroad Retirement can still file for the Economic Stimulus Payment through October 15, 2008. There is also free assistance available to help prepare your return by calling United Way of Central Alabama's 2-1-1 Information and Referral service.
