The mission of the Birmingham Urban League is to assist all racial and ethnic groups, particularly African Americans and the urban poor, in achieving social and economic equality.  The League advances its mission through the delivery of program services, research, advocacy and promoting racial inclusion.

The Birmingham Urban League is working to close gaps by addressing the disparities that face all racial and ethnic groups in the areas of education, economics, health, civic engagement and civil rights.  Guided by a dynamic and diverse Board of Directors and supported by dedicated staff, the League is defining the future for African Americans and all ethnic groups by empowering them with the tools they need to succeed.
